Irwin Siegel, Founder
Irwin Siegel, founder of Irwin Siegel Agency, was a man with a passion for helping those in need. So much so that in 1960, in a small town in upstate NY, he launched Irwin Siegel Agency (ISA), a family-owned business providing property and casualty insurance services. More than 50 years later, ISA is still focused on one primary goal—improving the quality of life for society’s most vulnerable members: our developmentally disabled.
Irwin experienced firsthand the obstacles faced by organizations that provide valuable insurance services and programs to those in need. His active involvement with a local chapter of the United Cerebral Palsy Association exposed him to the challenges and difficulties of providing Social Services to the community, including obtaining appropriate insurance. Unwilling to accept things as they were, the Siegel family revolutionized the insurance industry. In 1985, ISA developed the very first property and casualty insurance package specifically designed for non-profit organizations serving individuals with disabilities.
Supporting Those Who Support Others™ is not just a slogan. It’s how we live our lives. ISA is actively involved in our community, both locally and nationwide. National association memberships include the Community Action Partnership (CAP), Developmental Services Network (DSN), and the National Safety Council. Locally, our CEO, Howard Siegel currently holds a position on the Board of Directors of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Bronx, NY.
At Irwin Siegel Agency, we are all involved. Food drives and holiday toy programs for the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless are always company favorites. It truly is better to give than to receive. Today, under the direction of Irwin’s son, Chief Executive Officer Howard Siegel, along with social service insurance expert, Senior Vice President Sheila Shaw, ISA continues to pioneer how insurance is written for the Social and Human Service Community.
