Our History

Past, Present & Future

Founded by Irwin Siegel in 1960, Irwin Siegel Agency, Inc. (ISA) is located in Rock Hill, New York.  More than 40 years ago, Irwin became involved in a local chapter of the United Cerebral Palsy Association and learned first-hand the valuable contributions such agencies make, and the problems they have to overcome in order to do so. It was even difficult for them to get insurance, and mission-specific insurance was undreamed of until an extraordinary family revolutionized an ordinary business. ISA consisted of the Siegel family and a handful of employees, in 1985 when they designed the very first property and casualty insurance package specifically for non-profit providers serving individuals with disabilities.

Irwin Siegel Agency is the leading insurance and risk management organization within the Human Service Field, insuring service  providers in all fifty states. ISA continues to set the standards of quality, creativity and timeliness in developing new programs that meet the changing needs of the Human Service field. Programs include coverage for organizations in the developmental disabilities, medical/physical rehabilitation, behavioral/mental healthcare, addiction treatment rehabilitation and community/social service fields. Our Risk Management Department continues to develop specialized resources to assist our insureds in managing risk and controlling losses. ISA offers loss control training seminars and teleconferences that address pertinent field related issues, and has developed a National network of partner services to focus on the unique exposures faced by human service providers while offering numerous on line and other printed resources.

ISA is actively involved with national associations, such as AAIDD, ANCOR, NAATP, SNPO, NADSP, the National Safety Council, USPRA and various state associations. ISA currently holds a position on the USPRA Board offering consultative services to its members. In addition to USPRA, ISA holds positions on the board of a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Bronx, NY. Authors of trade journals and grant proposals (Project Action) have relied on our professionals to review their work. ISA is involved with national accreditation organizations and other national groups for the purpose of quality assurance. Our motto is “Supporting Those Who Support Others.” We have always been committed to the Human Service field. This commitment is something that everyone at ISA feels as strongly about today as we have in the past. This passion will continue to grow with you and with us into the future.
